How often was Meg Austin talked about after the show moved to CBS ?
I seem to remember Harm mentioning her a couple of times. I don't
think anyone else ever mentioned her, not even Chegwidden. Also
that flashback episode don't count, that was just reused old footage.
It seems they just pretended the first season on NBC never happened.

Adm. Chegwidden mentioned Meg Austin during the episode We the People, when
telling Lt. Rabb that Roberts was being assigned to Rabb's section, having
been recommended by Lt. Austin before she transferred out.

I wish they hadn't gotten rid of her. I didn't see these episodes when
they were first broadcast, but after seeing them recently I think she
did a great job. She did a good job portraying her role, looks great
and seems to have a great personality. She would be a great one to
bring back.

That makes two of us. I didn't see the 1st year when it was on, but did
catch all of the episodes on rerun on the USA Network. I also believe she
has those qualities you mentioned. Of all Harm's partners, she was the
tallest (5'11") and had some good scenes with Harm and Oliver North. With
the "deal" that Harm and Mac have, however, any disruption in that would
anger the die-hard fans. :-) After all, this upcoming season should have
them getting together, unless I miss my guess.

Well since their getting together is likely to be the death knell then
maybe they should bring Meg back to introduce a bit of doubt in Harm's
mind. It sure seems to be the best move as most shows die once the
tormented couple finally get together. If they bring her in they can
at least delay the inevitable for another year or so.

I just want to remind everyone that by time a show brings a couple
together it is already at the end of it's run. How many more
seasons
could JAG have even if they don't get together?
OT: Just how close did Marshall Dillion and Miss Kitty get during
their 20 seasons?
On screen I think they kissed a few times. When Amanda Blake left the
series before its final year it was implied that Kitty left because
she realised that Matt would never marry her. There was however a
clear implication that things were going on behind closed doors.
Actually the old radio show made things a bit clearer -- Kitty wasn't
initially a saloon owner, but one of the saloon girls (read
prostitute), and people went "upstairs" in the radio show. It was
clearly implied that Matt and Kitty knew what went where and why from
practice with each other, but you couldn't say it of course.
(Actually rehearsals for the radio show could get quite bawdy. In one
example the sound effects men produced the sound of clinking spurs --
which you always heard when Matt was walking -- the spurs going up the
stairs, a door closing, creaking bed springs, a door opening, the
spurs coming back down the stairs. At which point Virginia Gregg (who
played Kitty in the radio show) shouted "Rabbit"!)

Things change. I can't see how it would be a disaster for the show if Harm
and Mac got married and had children.

Wasn't Gunsmoke the longest running western on TV? Besides, we didn't get
to see ALL the goings-on between Matthew and Kitty.

Definitely. I started watching JAG in the first year (but never got to see
the pilot / first episode with Andrea Parker [of "The Pretender" and "Less
Than Perfect"). I enjoyed the rapport Meg had with Harm and was so
disappointed when they got rid of her character. :(

It could never happen anyway, as the actress who played her,
Tracy Needham, has another job, a fairly substantial role on the
Lifetime show "The Division". Unlikely she would give that up
to return to JAG. Not only that, I don't think DPB liked her anyway.
If he did, why did he get rid of her to begin with?

The show she is on has less episodes then most other shows, sure she could
fit it in if offered to her & she wanted to do it.

Another ep where Meg was mentioned was when Harm and Mac went aboard the
LA-class SSN Watertown-Harm mentioned something about Meg to Mac and Mac
replied "I'm not like Lt. Austin."

That would be the episode Silent Service, but I don't recall Mac saying
that. I'll have to view it again and post a follow-up.

I finally got a chance to look at Silent Service last night and you're
right. Harm did say that to Mac.

I don't remember the circumstances of her exit. Where there any, or was it
just the end of the season and no mention was made that she would be leaving
before she left?
